After guilt took over Amir's conscience, he decided that either he or Hassan had to leave; obviously Amir decided that he would had to think of a way for Hassan to leave. Amir grabbed the watch that was given to him as a present and put it in Hassan's house; later, he told his father that Hassan had stolen it. Because of this and the events leading up to it, Hassan's father took the decision of leaving the house.
